INTRODUCTION:

 

 

Monty Python's humour is combined with Ingmar Bergman's Puritan visual world in tightly edited few-minute-scenes that form 20-25 minute episodes. Each episode is themed after one of different European philosophers and every episode has different characters: a "fallible" main character and two "eternal, permanent" attribute-puppets.

 

An extension of style and content boundaries; unexpected turns and dramatic twists engage the attention of the audience who can never be sure whether they watch sarcasm, irony or caress. Its impertinent tone is close to the cheeky behaviour of young people, coupled with deeply abstract ideas, charm and the love of life.

 

PhiloScopes’ universal symbolism, free visual associations and "loud pantomimes" allow PhiloSerie to be easily translated to any language of the world. It is universal, but keeps its "bittersweet Eastern European style" as well. The instruments used in this film are in fact tools of philosophical meditation.
